Welcome! The Law Office of Kent L. Brown Kent Brown is a trial attorney and general counsel with emphasis on administrative and constitutional law, civil rights, employment law, school law and consumer rights. He represents two state colleges, various local governmental agencies, numerous private businesses and individuals with local government and elementary and secondary schools. Mr. Brown was appointed by the President of the Missouri Bar Association to three consecutive terms as Chair of the Administrative Law Committee of the Missouri Bar. The Committee's most significant accomplishment during his term as Chair was the publication of the completely revised Third Edition of the MoBar Administrative Law CLE Deskbook. A lifelong Missourian, Mr. Brown received a Bachelor of Science in Education in 1982 from Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield, taught high school speech, debate, theatre and english for six years and in 1991 received a Juris Doctor from the University of Missouri - Columbia School of Law. After graduating from law school, he practiced with Carson & Coil, P.C., a nineteen member firm located in Jefferson City, where he was an officer and shareholder. In 2001 he left Carson & Coil to begin his own law practice. Mr. Brown's current emphasis is employment, administrative and public sector law. He currently serves as general counsel for Lincoln University, Linn State Technical College, the Missouri Public Library Directors Association and the Cities of Linn and Meta. Mr. Brown writes and speaks frequently on legal issues. Sample publications include: Various chapters of the New Administrative Law CLE Deskbook; Special Problems, Missouri Damages (Mo. Bar Supp. 1994); Best's Digest of Insurance Laws; and Confidentiality in Mediation, 1991 J. DISP. Res. 307 (1991). For many years he presented the Torts section of the Annual Law Update, one of the Missouri Bar Association's best attended programs. He regularly speaks on Library Law issues and Missouri's Sunshine Law.
